Pintlore Privacy Policy

Summary

Pintlore is a personal beer diary app. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how you can control it. We don't sell your data, run ads, or track you across other apps or websites.

What We Collect

Account information: your email address and a password (handled securely by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see or store your password in plain text).
Your diary: the beers you log — rating, notes, and date — tied to your account. This is private to you.
Catalog contributions: when you scan or add a beer, its name, brewery, style, ABV, hops, barcode, and photo become part of a shared catalog visible to all signed-in users. Any signed-in user can add to or edit this shared catalog.
Camera and photos: used only to scan barcodes and to let you attach a photo to a beer. We don't access your camera roll beyond photos you choose to share.
Technical data: basic data needed to run the app (e.g., app version checks for updates) through our infrastructure providers.

We do not collect your name, birthdate, location, or phone number, and we don't use any analytics or advertising software.

Why We Use It

To create and secure your account.
To store and display your diary to you, privately.
To build and maintain the shared beer catalog other users rely on.
To show catalog average ratings and an anonymous list of individual ratings (star count and date only — never your identity or notes) for a beer.
To look up basic beer information from Open Food Facts when you scan a barcode not yet in our catalog.

Who Else Sees It

Other Pintlore users can see catalog entries (name, brewery, style, ABV, hops, photo) and anonymous ratings (a star count and a date, never tied to your identity or notes). Your diary notes and your identity behind a rating are never shown to anyone else.
Open Food Facts receives the barcode you scan (sent directly from your device) to look up product information, and as a result sees your device's IP address. Open Food Facts is a nonprofit, open database, not a Pintlore vendor.
Service providers that keep the app running: Supabase (our database, authentication, and file storage), Cloudflare (our website and email), and Expo (app update delivery). Each only processes what's needed to provide their service to us — none of them use your data for their own purposes.
Apple and Google as required to operate through their app stores.
We never sell your information, and we never share it with data brokers or advertisers.

What We Don't Do

No advertising or ad networks.
No analytics or tracking SDKs.
No selling or renting your data.
No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
No push notifications.

This list reflects the app today; if that ever changes, we'll update this policy first.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your account and diary for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your account and your private diary entries (ratings, notes, dates) are permanently removed. Catalog entries you contributed (beer name, brewery, style, etc.) and the beer photos attached to them stay in the shared catalog, since they're part of a shared, communal resource that other users rely on. The catalog doesn't show who added them.

Your Choices

You can view and edit your diary entries and catalog contributions at any time in the app.
To delete your account: open the app, tap Info, then Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and your private diary entries right away. If you can't get into the app, email support@pintlore.com and we'll delete them for you.
You can stop using the app at any time — you're never charged for anything.

Age

Pintlore is a beer-diary app and is not intended for anyone under the legal drinking age in their country (21+ in the United States). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Security

We rely on Supabase's industry-standard security practices (encrypted connections, hashed passwords) to protect your account. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we don't do anything on our end to weaken it.

Your Rights

If you're a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to ask us to delete it — see "Your Choices" above. Pintlore does not sell or share personal information and does not respond differently to browser Do-Not-Track signals because we don't track you in the first place. If you're in the EU, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to ask questions about how it's processed — contact us below.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, let you know in the app.
